What is the IGKO exam?

Who runs the IGKO?

The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), the New Delhi non-profit behind the IMO, IEO and NCO. Registration normally happens through the school.

What does the IGKO test?

Four sections: General Awareness, Current Affairs, Life Skills, and an Achievers Section whose questions carry more marks. Topics range from places and personalities to science in daily life, sport and basic civics.

What is the paper pattern?

Multiple choice only, in English, 60 minutes: 35 questions for classes 1 to 4 and 50 for classes 5 to 10. There is no negative marking.

A note about current affairs

Current-affairs questions change every year, so practice material must change too. In the aliensbrain kids Practice Hall, GK questions carry the academic year they are valid for and retire automatically after 31 March, so children never rehearse stale facts.

How should my child prepare?

A little general knowledge every day: the news headline, the map, the cricket score. The Practice Hall GK topics are free for classes 1 to 10 with fresh questions on every attempt.
